Head west on Highway 2 to Miscouche, home of the Acadian Museum. Turn right onto Highway #12. Follow #12 to a miniature horse farm. Belmont Park is our favourite beach. Cackleberry Farm has a U pick, strawberries etc. Arlington Orchards has over 30 acres, well worth a visit at blossom time and later U pick pears, plums and apples.
Caernarvon has over 70 varieties of hardy roses and many lilies. The Summerside Gardening Club offers visits to the area's best gardens, including ours. Next stop is Green Park - historic house, museum and beach. The Doctor's Inn in Tyne Valley will supply excellent organic vegetables. ( They also offer a fine evening meal.) On to Lennox Island - Mi'kmaq crafts, restaurant, an interpretive centre, and hiking trails.
Bideford has a museum recognizing LM Montgomery. Proceed through Alberton through photogenic scenery to Jacques Cartier Park, miles of sand. North Cape has a wind farm, and an interpretive centre. Expect to see Belgian horses (Percherons). Stop at Shirley's cafe in Tignish for excellent inexpensive scallop burgers and other items.
Return along the western shore to West Point - a lighthouse and beautiful beaches. Divert to O'Leary, home of the potato museum. Visit MacAusland's Mills in Bloomfield for woollens made in techniques of long ago. Follow Hwy 2 and Hwy 11 to the Bottle House in the Region Evangeline then onto Summerside.
Note Caernarvon is only 40 minutes to Cavendish and 75 minutes to Charlottetown.
